There are two circumstances in which an arrest for DUI can result in the suspension/revocation of your driver’s license by the DOL. If you are arrested for DUI and your breath test result (as measured by a device approved by the Washington State Toxicologist) indicates a breath alcohol level of .08 or above, your license will be placed on temporary status and will automatically be suspended unless you submit a written hearing request and the $350 hearing fee within 20 days of the date you were stopped for DUI. The length of this suspension will be 90 days, 1 year, or 2 years depending on your past record of administrative actions in the DOL.

If you were arrested for DUI and refused a lawfully requested breath or blood test your license will be placed on temporary status and will automatically be suspended unless you submit the written hearing request and fee within 20 days of the date you were stopped for DUI. The length of this suspension will be 1 year or 2 years depending on whether you have previously refused a lawfully requested breath or blood test.
